Sketchbooks - Bookforms, recording the world.
This course will explore methods and ways of gathering and recording images and creatively presenting them. It will look at the sketchbook and the many forms it can take to suit various methods of working. For many artists sketchbooks are fundamental to their practice; ideas, images, writing, gathering, cutting, sticking and research all take place in them. Each day will begin by introducing a simple sketchbook form, which will then be used as a visual tool to explore ideas and images. The course will cross borders of artist's bookmaking and the use of sketchbooks, offering an exciting week of play and experimentation. This course would suit beginners as well as those with some experience, and will aim to help students gain confidence in using and making sketchbooks to suit their needs and to understand the use of them as visual research tools.
